Chilevisión


Chilevisión or CHV is the third oldest television channel in Chile. Formerly called Teleonce (Universidad de Chile Televisión) and RTU (Red de Televisión de la Universidad de Chile), this TV station was owned by University of Chile, a Chilean state university. This educational institution sold an important percentage of its TV channel to Venevisión, changing its name to Chilevisión. It was later sold to Claxson Multimedia Group and then to Chilean investor Sebastián Piñera.

Mainly airs celebrity gossip shows, news, Venezuelan, Brazilian telenovelas, and anime. It's currently ranks 4th in TV viewership in the country behind Canal 13, TVN and Mega (in that order).

Chilevisión reaches Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, continental Chile, Paraguay, Peru and Uruguay through the Brazilian satellite Estrela do Sul.

Currently the most important programs of the TV station are SQP, a gossip celebrity program, Invasion, a teenage oriented program who shows mostly Anime series, Chilevision Noticias, their News program, REC, a miscellaneous show and Primer Plano, another gossip celebrity program with a more serious tone.
